i've been making a quick modular set for scaffolding around the mining area on my scene. just 3 poles and some planks but it'll look really cool when the whole set up is built.

Howdy gang. Just a couple more renders of texture work for you. i'm going ahead with some modelling now. better to get everything in place before I go on another texturing bender.





Also I was asked to bring the scene into UT3 to have a run around to see if the scale was right. it was decided to make the whole place much bigger. it feels much more vast now. screenies:

mmm textures

look see! This is for the large rock faces on the beach. I've been messing about with the painting tools in Max a little but I think they have their place but not for models like this.
quick unwrap and textured in photoshop. not finished yet mind. the otherside (where you see black) needs texturing but they're both using the same 2048 UV space.

"It's a pity to waste a WHOLE montecristo..."

I've not updated this in a while but i've been working on my landscape blockout. it's been a bit frustrating at times to get the individual areas to flow into each other very well. But I think it's really coming together now after some help from Stean and Dash and a rethink.
Should all be blocked out in a timely fashion. Then I can get cracking on some serious modelling.
I also need to give the main town hall building a bit of a reworking. to make it more of a focal point. perhaps i'll give it 44 floors (not counting the mezzanine).

TREEmendous. see what I did there? HhAHAHAHHAHAH

Spent some time today blending the branch texture into the main trunk and created some alpha branches and leaves. It's not done yet but it's just a case of copying and tweaking.
what do you think?
