Maya

Feels like i'm getting comfortable with Maya now. it's such a 180 from Max when you start using it but it has a lot of very nice features once you get used to it :)

Here's a bridge and support structure i've made and textured using it for a friends UDK map.

I'll keep updating as I go. I'm gonna try to get this area fleshed out better in the coming days.

is this thing still on?

I know it's been a bit quiet on the bobby front. but i'm back. big as life and twice as ugly. I've been making a lot of small simple assets recently to fill out my scene. but for now here is a modular wall i've made and textured today. it's for surrounding the zen garden at the main town building.

grass

Was getting a bit weary of all the unwrapping so I thought i'd make 4 small textures and this was the result. still a problem with the white outline on some parts but that can be sorted.



**EDIT - managed to get rid of most of the white outlines. it's barely noticable now. I also halved the texture size and it still looks good. they're all 128 now. I think that should add enough variety but I can always add another colour if it starts getting monotonous. new pic below: what do you think?

cliffs

Decided to redo some cliff top rocks. after a minor set back with a corrupt max file. managed to rescue most of it from one of the computers but the unwrap from the last house I had finished was gone. So I just made rocks today instead :) i'm gonna get this in unreal to see how it looks.

What do you think? Still needs a lot of detail going into the front but the shape is pretty much covered.

cliffs

Worked on some rocks for the top of the mountain sides today to stop them stopping suddenly. again they were textured and normal mapped in mudbox quite quickly and i'm fairly happy with how they turned out. gonna have some more soon :)

Textured a simple track for mining carts and added a curved part. looking quite nice I think :D

i've been making a quick modular set for scaffolding around the mining area on my scene. just 3 poles and some planks but it'll look really cool when the whole set up is built.

Howdy gang. Just a couple more renders of texture work for you. i'm going ahead with some modelling now. better to get everything in place before I go on another texturing bender.





Also I was asked to bring the scene into UT3 to have a run around to see if the scale was right. it was decided to make the whole place much bigger. it feels much more vast now. screenies:
